Second Doctor and Companions...
The Second Doctor Portrayed by Patrick Troughton
Appearances: 21 (The Power of the Daleks - The War Games)
Grade: B+
Often called the cosmic hobo, this second incarnation of the Doctor appears scruffy and child-like, never able to concentrate on one activity for too long. His dress is terribly sloppy, and he quickly becomes scatter-brained or agitated when events take a turn for the worst. However, behind this innocence and eccentric charm lies a powerful intellect, one not to be overestimated. Believing him to be a bumbling simpleton, many of his enemies overlook this funny little man, always to their detriment. In reality, this Doctor understands much more than he lets on, and not until he is ready to spring his trap does it become apparent that he has completely outwitted his foe.
The Second Doctor is significantly more playful and benevolent than his predecessor, and he is able to develop closer relationships with his companions, particularly Jamie and Zoe. At the end of The War Games the Time Lords exile the Second Doctor to 1970's Earth, force him to regenerate, and take away his knowledge of time travel.
Unfortunately, many of the Second Doctor’s stories have been destroyed by the BBC especially his first two seasons.
Notable Quotes: "When I say run, run like a rabbit. RUN!!!"
"Logic, my dear Zoe, merely enables one to be wrong with authority."
Polly Wright
Appearances: 9 (The War Machines - The Faceless Ones)
Grade: B-
Polly is secretary who joins the Doctor accidentally while trying to return to him his spare key to the TARDIS. Polly embodies the values of the young woman of the swinging 1960s by being quick-witted and intelligent as well as elegant and attractive.
Polly, unlike Vicki or Dodo, is not a child-figure and is capable of taking care of herself without relying as much on the Doctor. Ben shelters her much of the time, but even when he is not able, Polly shows that she has more than enough resourcefulness to look out after herself, most notably seen in The Highlanders. Sometimes, she even wishes to be in the thick of things, desperate to help her friends and win the day. Polly differs from the other women companions seen so far by being more mature, modern, and fashionable.
Unfortunately, most of Polly’s stories have been destroyed.
Notable Quote: "You're not going to turn me into a fish!!"

Ben Jackson
Appearances: 9 (The War Machines - The Faceless Ones)
Grade: C
Ben is a member of His Majesty's Royal Navy who joins the Doctor accidentally along with Polly Wright in an attempt to return the Doctor's spare key to the TARDIS. Ben is a good, practical hands-on kind of guy who is desperate to get back home. He is devoted to Polly, almost self-proclaiming himself as her guardian and giving her the nickname "Duchess". Ben is good in high-pressure situations, rescuing his companions twice from the Cybermen almost single handedly, and once from poison gas. On the downside, he can be a bit cynical and think the worst of people which sometimes works against him.
Ben and Polly, upon realizing that they have landed on Earth on the exact same day they left in the TARDIS, part ways with the Doctor at the end of The Faceless Ones.
Unfortunately, most of Ben’s stories have been destroyed.
Notable Quote: "Not you Polly. This is men's work."

James Robert McCrimmon
Appearances: 20 (The Highlanders - The War Games)
Grade: A
Jamie is a Scottish piper of the McLaren Clan from the year 1746 who is convinced by Ben and Polly to join their company. Jamie is initially unsure of his bizarre new life but soon comes to crave the adventure that the Doctor and life in the TARDIS brings.
Jamie is reckless, brave, and aggressive. Although his 18th century mind sometimes has difficulty understanding all that goes on, he is always convinced he should be part of the action. Jamie naturally tends to drift to the place where the bullets are coming in fastest or where he can best protect his friends with his highly-tuned fighting skills. Jamie develops close relationships with all of the other companions inside the TARDIS, but he particularly seems to fancy Victoria; the show implies he has feelings for her, and he appears heartbroken when she decides to leave. However, nothing is stated outright, and the matter is never explicitly discussed.
Jamie's adventure with the Doctor comes to a close when he is forced to return to his own time and land by the Time Lords at the end of The War Games. Jamie is widely regarded as one of the best characters in the history of the show as he appears in more episodes than any other companion.
Notable Quote: (his clan's Gaelic battle cry) "Creag an tuire!!"

All but two of Victoria’s stories are destroyed.

Grade: B+
Zoe is a genius. She has a degree in pure mathematics with honors, a photographic memory, and intelligence scores similar to that of the Doctor.
